Electrical Engineer / Web Programmer
A full-stack developer is a jack-of-all-trades, but acquiring the skills to master server-side and client-side development requires years of hard work. The world wide web is constantly evolving. As an Electrical Engineer, I know how fast technology can change, and how fast it can change the world around us. You need to stay up-to-date with the latest programming tools, trends, and workflows out there.
PHP may have its flaws, all languages do, but it is still one of the best languages for server-side scripting. I have worked with CRMs like Joomla, Wordpress, and Magento, and when a customer does not want a CRM, I use CodeIgniter because I prefer to work with the Model-View-Controller pattern. PHP gets along with all of the front-end frameworks, including Bootstrap, Foundation, CSS, and every Javascript-based framework I have come across.
Javascript enhances the web, and a front-end developer must have a good working knowledge of those frameworks that make it a lot better. My first online projects made me learn jQuery, but through the years I have found myself programming with Backbone-js and Underscore, and, of course, AngularJS, which is perhaps the best MVC-based framework out there, getting more popular every day. Javascript is the king-language of front-end development, but it is also very limited, and frameworks like AngularJS and Backbone-js make it a lot more efficient.
Any programmer will eventually find himself working outside his area of expertise. As a PHP programmer, I found myself working on a mobile application that used Phonegap / Cordova. The name of the project was Hundo, and it was created for the iPhone. I started working with PHP / MySQL, and CentOS, and eventually found myself on the front-side of the project. Back then, we thought jQuery Mobile was the best framework out there for hybrid mobile applications. Then I ran into the Ionic Framework, and it is what I have been using ever since for hybrid mobile applications. The Ionic Framewo
